Growing out your hair can be a long, frustrating process but by putting in a little extra effort, your hair will grow faster (and longer!).
1. Skip the Shampoo
Washing your hair every day can be extremely drying as excess shampoo will strip away the natural oils your hair produces. Instead, utilize a dry shampoo and stretch out your washes as far as possible. Hate not having your hair done every day? Now’s your chance to learn a few cute updos!
2. Trim Your Ends (Often)
You might think that cutting your hair when you’re trying to grow it out is counterintuitive, but it getting regular trims keeps your hair healthy, helping it grow faster and longer. Trimming your hair regularly will also help having to commit to a major chop every year due to excessive dead ends and starting all over again.
3. Avoid Hot Tools
We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – avoiding hot tools as much as possible is SO important! Excessive heat on your hair will cause it to dry out and look limp. Reducing the heat on your hair will help it stay healthy looking and feeling.
4. Utilize a Heat Protectant Spray
If you can’t avoid using hot tools on your hair, especially during the work week, always utilize a heat protectant spray. This will give you an extra layer of protection on your hair and reduce breakage from excessive heat.
5. Dry Smarter
Your everyday cotton towels can cause your hair to become frizzy and damaged if you rub your hair excessively to get it dry. Instead, use an old t-shirt or microfiber towel to remove excess moisture and to keep your hair smooth and damage free.
6. Skin Buns, Braids, and Pony Tails
Tight elastic bands wrapped around your hair create friction and pull at your hair, causing it to break. If you need to put your hair up for any reason, opt for elastics that are less damaging such as no-crease options or scrunchies.
